Strategy Point is an independent marketing strategy consultancy which works across sectors, offering a range of customer-centric strategy, marketing and business development services. Recent Strategy Point clients have included organisations in the retailing, hotels/restaurants, recruitment consultancy, property, town planning, design, legal, management consulting and public sectors.
Strategy Point’s David Wallace started his career in 1987 as a business strategy consultant based in London advising clients in the UK and abroad in a wide range of sectors such as retailing, aviation, financial services, leisure and fast-moving consumer goods. He also worked for the global design consultancy Fitch, where projects included a corporate identity review for one of Europe’s largest transportation companies. He then moved in-house to Sony Corporation’s European HQ in Germany (where he centralised Western European sales and marketing activities and managed the establishment of sales companies throughout Eastern Europe and Russia, helping business in the region grow from $100m to $1bn sales in just a few years), the Royal Bank of Scotland (where he focused on developing corporate banking business) and finally UK law firm Shepherd and Wedderburn (where, as marketing director, he created a marketing function that became recognised as one of the best in the UK professional services sector). While studying for his MBA, he also undertook consulting assignments for Bankers Trust Company (corporate finance research) and Toyota (part pricing review). His track record includes several awards for excellence in developing and implementing marketing strategy, including being voted UK Marketing Director of the Year while in his last in-house post. David has an MBA from London Business School (currently ranked first in the world by the Financial Times) which enables him to take a broad business perspective and draw not only on his knowledge of marketing, but also of other disciplines. He also has an MA (Hons) degree in French and German from Glasgow University. During this first degree he studied French at Lausanne University in Switzerland and taught English for a year in Southern Germany. He is a Marketing Society Business Leader, a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Marketing and a member of the Scottish Council for Development and Industry. He is a sole practitioner, so if you hire him, you get him. Where appropriate, he also works alongside other specialists in disciplines such as graphic and web design, PR, research, human resources and so on to get the job done for his clients.
